90 new burial plots will be made available at Woodside Cemetery and Crematorium.
Burial plots were last made available 25 years ago in 1995 so it’s welcome news for many local families who have a historic or emotional connection to Woodside Cemetery.
Visitors to Woodside over the past few months will have noticed the groundsmen working hard to upgrade the tree-lined pathways and garden areas. Plus the opening of on site Woodside Family Funeral Directors and the upgrading of Martyr’s Chapel. In total an investment of £370k has been made to ensure that Woodside continues to offer the people of Renfrewshire a beautiful location to say a final farewell, and a peaceful place to pay respects.
Robert MacLachlan, (pictured below) Group CEO of The Independent Family Funeral Directors, says the move follows decades of enquiries from the public regarding burial space. He said:
“We receive numerous enquiries every month, but the layout and lack of space meant that, after 1995, there were no more plots available. Thanks to recent investment and works within the grounds we are pleased to now offer these sought-after plots for the first time in 25 years and we expect there will be considerable interest.”
